Description

This Valentine’s Day Puppy Chow recipe is the ultimate sweet and salty snack that’s ready in just 10 minutes! Made with crispy Rice Chex, creamy white chocolate, and festive M&Ms, this pink treat is perfect for sharing with loved ones. Gluten-free and easily customizable, it’s a must-have holiday dessert.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 5 cups Rice Chex cereal (or Corn Chex)
  • 1 cup mini pretzels (gluten-free optional)
  • 10 ounces white melting chocolate (e.g., Ghirardelli wafers)
  • ½ cup powdered sugar (colored pink or left white)
  • 6 ounces Valentine’s Day M&Ms
  • Sprinkles (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the workspace: Line a large baking sheet with parchment or wax paper. Add Rice Chex cereal to a large mixing bowl.
  2. Color the powdered sugar: Place powdered sugar in a blender or food processor. Add pink gel food coloring and blend until evenly combined. Transfer to a zip-top bag.
  3. Melt the chocolate: Microwave white chocolate wafers in a microwave-safe bowl in 30-second increments, stirring between each, until fully melted. Add 1 teaspoon of oil if using white chocolate chips.
  4. Coat the cereal: Pour melted chocolate over the cereal and gently mix until evenly coated.
  5. Shake to coat: Add half the coated cereal to the zip-top bag with powdered sugar. Seal and shake until fully coated.
  6. Combine and decorate: Add the mini pretzels to the remaining cereal mixture and toss gently. Spread the mixture onto the prepared baking sheet. Sprinkle with M&Ms and sprinkles, then layer the powdered sugar-coated cereal on top.
  7. Cool and serve: Allow the mix to cool for 20 minutes. Toss gently to break up chunks, then transfer to a serving bowl.

Notes

  • For dairy-free, use vegan white chocolate and ensure all ingredients are allergen-friendly.
  • Freeze-dried strawberries can be blended into the powdered sugar for a fruity twist.
  • Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week or freeze for up to three months.
