Soft, chewy, and beautifully red velvet cookies topped with Hershey’s Kisses, perfect for Valentine’s Day, Christmas, or any festive occasion.

- 7 tbsp butter, softened
- ½ cup brown sugar
- 2 tbsp granulated sugar
- 1 large egg yolk
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- ¼ tsp red food coloring gel
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 tbsp cocoa powder
- ½ tsp baking powder
- ¼ tsp salt
- ¼ cup red sanding sugar
- 18 Hershey’s Kisses
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Cream the butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar together until smooth.
- Mix in the egg yolk, vanilla extract, and red food coloring.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add to the wet ingredients.
- Scoop out 18 dough balls, roll in red sanding sugar, and place on the baking sheet.
- Bake for 10 minutes, then press a Hershey’s Kiss into the center of each cookie immediately after removing them from the oven. Let cool on the sheet before transferring.
Notes
- You can substitute red sanding sugar with granulated sugar or sprinkles for variety.
- Chill the dough for 15–20 minutes if it’s too soft to handle.
- Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days, or freeze for longer storage.
