Ingredients

  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, browned
  • 1 cup dark brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 cup chocolate chips
  • 3/4 cup chopped pecans

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat and let it brown for 8–10 minutes until it reaches a deep amber color. Scrape up all the brown bits. Pour into a bowl and chill until it reaches room temperature.
  2. Once the butter cools, mix in the granulated sugar and dark brown sugar until well combined. Add the egg, egg yolk, and vanilla extract, then mix again.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture and stir until just combined.
  4. Fold in the chocolate chips and chopped pecans.
  5. Using a large cookie scoop (2 ounces), scoop the dough into balls and place them on a lined baking tray. Chill for 30 minutes in the fridge.
  6. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Place 3–4 cookie dough balls per baking sheet and bake for 11–13 minutes until the edges turn golden and the centers look slightly underbaked. Let them cool before enjoying.
